In the first lecture I gave an overview of the course and discussed all the policies and expectations. I handed out a syllabus and went over it in detail. A copy of the syllabus is posted on Carmen.

    Dr. Fus,

I just sat through your lecture class today and was excited about the new approach to learning you are taking. In high school I used videos to reinforce the material learned in calc and it helped me in numerous ways. I also wanted to ask what the quote from Crenshaw(?!) you presented in your slideshow was? I liked the quote a lot and tried to write it down but didn’t get a chance to.

    Thanks again,
    Robert

Hey Robert the quote was “At some point in our lives we must decide if we’re going to have fun and make it work, or work hard and make it fun.” -Crenshaw

Hope you are having a great first week of classes!

  2. Jessica says:

Just thought I would let everyone know that an eText of the 12th edition of this book is included on this mastering chemistry page.. so even if you have the 11th edition of the book (as I do), the 12th is available to you on here so if you were worried about using the 11th, this should solve the problem.

  3. Corey Larkin says:

Really excited about this class…first time i’ve ever had a class setup like this usually its the traditional way, but so far its already a huge help and in my opinion a lot more beneficial then the usual lecturing process

    • fus says:

Hey Corey, glad you enjoy the set-up. I’m pretty excited for the upcoming semester. Hope your first week of classes is going well, Dr. Fus

  4. Corbin Gold says:

Great first lecture, I struggle with chem and this learning style may be the ticket to success. Did you say that we can purchase the book for our computer/iPad with the access code? If so where can I find that because I am big with buying books in that form. Thank you!

    • fus says:

Thanks! Purchase a Mastering Chemistry code with ebook and get yourself registered. From the app store you can download the free Pearson eText app. Once you have this app downloaded, open it up and it will ask you for a sign in and password. Use your Mastering Chemistry username and password and login. You will see the Chemistry: The Central Science textbook image and if you click on the More info button you can download all of the chapters directly to your iPad. The pages of the book will be identical to those seen on the iPad.

Let me know if you have any other questions, Dr. Fus
